Semi-independent homes for young people.
AARP Co-living will provide safe, supported accommodation for young people aged 16 to 25 who are leaving care, arrived in the UK alone, or are at risk of homelessness. We are opening in 2027.
What we are building
Shared houses of three to five young people, each with their own bedroom, in ordinary residential streets. Support staff on site during the day and on call overnight. A clear, written support plan for every young person, agreed with their social worker or personal adviser.
The aim is simple: a place where a young person can settle, keep going to college or work, learn to cook, budget and manage a tenancy, and move on to their own home when they are ready rather than when a placement ends.
Who it is for
- Care leavers aged 16 to 25 moving towards independence
- Unaccompanied asylum-seeking young people
- Young people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness
- Young people stepping down from residential or foster care
For commissioners
We intend to work with local authorities through their existing semi-independent and supported-accommodation frameworks, and via spot purchase where a framework is not in place.
- Registration with Ofsted under the supported accommodation regulations before the first placement
- Enhanced DBS checks and safeguarding training for all staff
- Placements in the Midlands and northern England initially
- Referral response within one working day
